<p>It was reported on Sunday that defenceman Quinn Hughes pulled out of the tournament due to an injury. Team USA added Jake Sanderson of the Ottawa Senators to take Hughes’ place.</p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Hughes is arguably the best defenceman in the league, scoring 14 goals and 59 points in 47 games this season while helping the Vancouver Canucks reach a postseason spot before the break. He’s coming off his first career James Norris Trophy in 2023-24 after scoring 17 goals and 92 points in 82 games, as the Canucks reach Game 7 of the second round.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">With that being said, Sanderson is having a pretty good season as well, as he has five goals and 35 points in 55 games this season for the Senators. His 2023-24 season was a career-high, as he scored 10 goals and 38 points, and will seemingly blow by his career-high in points. He’s no Hughes, but Team USA still has a good defence core.</span></p>
<h2>Predators claim Andreas Englund</h2>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">On Monday, it was reported that the Nashville Predators claimed Andreas Englund off waivers from the Los Angeles Kings.</span></p>

Last season was a career-high for Englund though, as he scored a goal and 10 points, playing all 82 games for the Kings. Moreover, he played the five postseason games the team played where he picked up an assist.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Drafted in the second round of the 2014 draft by the Ottawa Senators, the Predators will be Englund’s fifth team, having played for the Senators, Colorado Avalanche, Chicago Blackhawks, and Kings.</span></p>
